  • Bob : Set up LHRS ROC and DAQ, add QWeak ADCs, connect to RHRS, and add to TS
    • Connect the trigger-in TTL signal from the T_Settle/MPS helicity NIM crate into the LHRS ROC 25, as well as into two new QWeak ADCs (NIM signal)
  • Bob : Finish setting up all DAQ components to Trigger Supervisor Control (TSC) and verify all components work as intended
    • Connect the flat RS45 cable number 21 between the L and R HRSs
    • Make sure that the LHRS ROC connects to the ADAQ3 CODA in the counting house, and make sure that the ROC's hardware RAM ROC code is correctly set in Prex.crl
      • First run the Prex.crl standalone
      • Next connect TS control with the Prex_ts.crl (if possible, troubleshoot)
      • Then merge all of (LHRS->RHRS + Injector) -> Counting House all work together under TS control
  • Long-range plan :
    • PAN, post-PAN and PAN-guin (Parity Analyze software) should all be rewritten, primarily to bring its functionality into the current group's control as JAPAN (Just Another Parity ANalyzer)


  • Morning - 9AM - Chandan, Cameron : Hall A Walkthrough with Javier Gomez
  • Morning - 11AM - Chandan, Tyler, Cameron, Bob : Ensure all Hall A Counting House Helicity Patch Panel connections are actually directly connected to the places we think they are on the corresponding patch panels in the L and R HRS's
    • LHRS verification:
      • We hand traced all of the lower-level-behind-detector-stack patch panel connections to their upper-level relay sending ports
      • Then we checked that the ports on the relay receiving ports matched the indicated numbering systems
      • Currently the Hall A Counting House && the LHRS lower level Helicity Patch Panels are sending signals 5=QRT, 6=MPS -> new, 7=HEL, 9=Pair Sync to the relayed Betty A12, A11, A13, and A10 channels respectively
      • And then to verify that the signals (QRT, MPS, HEL, Pair Sync) are all behaving as intended we plugged and unplugged the helicity signals individually from the Counting House Patch Board and made sure that our traced signals through the patch relays in the detector hut all responded accordingly
    • LHRS standalone mode:
      • To run the LHRS in standalone mode apart from the RHRS we inserted an additional T_Settle/MPS signal into the counting house board and followed it into the receiving board and ensured that it is able to be used as a signal
      • *In order to use the T_Settle/MPS signal we need to obtain a model 726 Level Translator (Fermilab Documentation) to convert the input signal into one TTL output and two NIM outputs, for the Happex Timing Board QDC and two QWeak ADCs (not yet obtained either) respectively
      • Chandan ran placeholder BNC and LEMO cables from the Helicity board on the top level of the LHRS to the bottom level DAQ VME crate
    • RHRS verification:
      • We also played around with the RHRS patch panels and verified that all signals match their intended sources
      • We had already gotten data to flow correctly (see previous meeting) so we know that the channels are plugged into the correct sources
      • Currently the Hall A Counting House && the RHRS lower level Helicity Patch Panels are sending signals 1=QRT, 2=MPS, 8=HEL, 7=Pair Sync to the relayed Betty D05, D06, D07, and D02 respectively
      • This information is useful, but these things should always be cross checked again before and after changing configurations and running for additional certainty and to prevent unknown configuration changes from ruining data
  • Afternoon - Bob :
    • The LHRS ROC #25 is not responding to CODA and the previously used Telnet connection from hatsv40:2005 was actually connected to halla-leftarm-top-sw on net 164 (rather than 192)
    • We disconnected that and replaced the telnet connection with hatsv21:2004, which also does not work (connected to hallavme14 network switch)
    • There is an available hatsv4 upstairs, but we should figure out why the other one is not working

  • To do:
    • LHRS Trigger Supervisor (TS) Control mode:
      • We need to get the T_Settle/MPS TTL signal from a new 726 Phillips Level Translator and send that signal to at least the Happex Timing Board QDC
      • We need to get the portserver telnet connection into the LHRS ROC #25 to work
      • We need to switch operation from the Prex.crl to Prex_ts.crl style CODA configuration control scripts and ensure that everything is connected and the ROCs have the correct hardware RAM numbers
      • Then the MPS signal will not come from the Counting House but from the RHRS directly using the RS45 cable number 21 connection - today Tyler completed its connection (currently not inserted into the TI/Trigger Interface crate) from the RHRS VME crate to the LHRS VME crate
      • Ultimately we will want to sever the HEL/Helicity signal coming into the hall entirely, to avoid spurious signal leakage and contamination from the Injector's helicity information
