Agenda

Rakitha :

  • PREX-I and PREX-II Collimator Comparison elog-2926
  • Beamline Background PREX-I and PREX-II Comparison elog-2925
  • Radiated Neutron Spectrum for Different Collimators elog-2924

Minutes

  • There was a discussion about possibility of adding wings to the collimator at top and bottom of the tungsten box. This is to further slow down or absorb more neutron using more tungsten. Based on elog 2924, the gains by adding wings are very small and it is also complicated engineering wise to design and develop it. Neutrons in 2<E<10 MeV range are reduced from 641 to 446 by making outer tungsten box a square. But adding wings means even less volume so reduction will be even smaller.
  • We have to start incorporating the septum field. What is delaying this is we are still no sure what magnetic field to set. Once we incorporate it we have to do a simulation to see the effects of fringe field on the beam-pipe. The field will be well shielded using iron.
  • For a future meeting, we need a review the situation for PREX-I momentum calibration and possibility of using a gas target for PREX-II for calibration. We will also need simulation with the proposed gas targets to study the calibration.

Misc.
