Agenda

  • New Scattering Chamber Shielding Design elog-2981
  • New Scattering Chamber Shielding Update - 1 elog-2982

Present:
Kent, Caryn, Ciprian, Rickie, KK, Paul, Tyler, Dustin, Guido

Minutes

Minutes

  • Before the review we need to have numbers for radiation shielding with new scattering chamber design
    • Then make sure to go over with Alan to check for any show-stoppers
    • Potential dates for the review is around early October
  • We need to have a collaboration meeting before the review
    • The preferred dates are Aug 24th and half-a-day on 25th
    • The backup dates are Sep. 18th and 19th
  • The other high priority issue is the Q1 collimator compatibility between PREX and CREX - Bob
    • We would like to run CREX with PREX collimator to see compatibility
  • Add the collimator containment boxes to top and bottom of the collimator box. - Rakitha
    • If we ended up using the same collimator for both experiments, the top box will hold the collimator move mechanism and the bottom one will eventually safely secure the collimator for disposal.
    • If we need two collimators then they will be made as single unit one top of the other.
  • We also need to choose the material for the collimator box, now that collimator is well shielded for disposal, activation from the collimator box will be contributing factor.
    • The interface between collimator box and septum + acceptance tubes needs to be properly designed if they are two different materials.
  • Since the collimator box will be a new design we still have some room to optimize it's size. - Rakitha, Kent, KK and engineering
    • This can only be done with engineering input

Misc.

  • Beam parasitic studies needs a to-do list

TO DO Lists

  • It would be nice to have real-time viewer for optics studies in commissioning (disussed in 01/16/2014 meeting)
