Agenda

  1. Dump Shielding Update: Ciprian
    1. target thickness
      • CG: analysis ongoing
    2. water shielding
      • CG: discussed the possibility with Al and Joyce and they point out that the price of building a large enough container and ensuring that it is leak proof will be much higher than if we would build some sort of interlocking concrete bricks which can be stacked up by hand
      • DG: we should talk to Jessie as well to get his opinion
  2. MOLLER sim and dump details: Cameron slides
    • CC: new repository in remoll with geometry from CAD file and some basic experimental details
    • BM: should allowing more multiple scattering by opening up the kryptonite detector
    • CG: we should continue discussing this to make sure we are running with the same conditions and the correct geometries
  3. FOM calculations: Tyler slides
    • TK: origin is at the pivot (center of the fall; target is z = -105 cm)
    • TK: slide 6 should be 8.15 (the number in the slides is wrong but everything else is correct — plots, tables and so on)
    • TK: the cuts don’t see to produce a significant relative loss in the error for the neutron radius (still looking at the correctness of the simulation)
    • KK: what is wrong with dR? TK: this is Nicky’s simulation but we never managed to reproduce some of his old results (where he got the 1% uncertainty)
    • KP: which plot contains the systematic error? TK: the neutron radius plot has the stat and syst error added in quadrature (also the newdaa plot).
    • GU: what do we have for syst? TK: CREX 1.25% and for PREX 2%. GU: the results seem to be syst dominated so in that case the drop in rate wouldn’t matter
    • KK: can we make the explicit calculation for the neutron radius calculation? TK: will do
    • BM: Tyler and I should compare some point kinematics.
  4. Other: Paul K:
    • PK: hall A cc is trying to organize the Jan coll mtg and we want a status update from PREX/MOLLER/SOLID.
    • PK: for the physics seminar we would like to someone to speak about neutron start physics and PREX/CREX. KP: we should get someone to talk about the new LIGO results in as well PK: agreed
