Agenda
- Updates from Rakitha : Neutron Shielding Comparison : Polythene vs. Water elog-2652
- Updates from Nickie : Optics Plan elog-2653
- Updates from Guido : Focal Plane from snake [1]
Present:
Rakitha, Paul, Nickie, Paul, Dustin, Kent, KK, and Seamus
Minutes
- Water vs. Poly discussion
- Proceed with Water shielding inside the scattering chamber
- Talk with Al about the geometry/design considerations
- Possibility of dissolving Borax in water to absorb more neutrons : need to consider about rusting and other issue with using Borax
- Can we put a Borax+water solution in the hall in beam conditions?
- The reduction in neutron power and flux after the shielding area (see Table 3 in elog 2952) could be due to missing neutron reflections with poly
- There could be some resonance activity in Oxygen at around 10 MeV neutrons, which could account for reduction in neutron power at this energy range of 1<E<10 MeV. It is only a reduction in energy and a slight increase in the neutron flux but within errors.
- Possibility of using glass containers with Aluminium jars filled with water inside the scattering chamber
- Optics update by Nickie
- As a short term goal, use Jixie's G4MC to test CREX optic tune because Jixie has already implemented the target and septum for the CREX
- This will give a chance to get familiar with the code in short term
- Also this should provide the missing information about the detector footprint like size of the plane and etc.
- Once the code is setup, PREX setup will be coded. This include the target and septum
- Sent out a doodle poll to decide the meeting time
Misc.
- From Last Meeting
- Beam parasitic studies needs a to-do list
TO DO Lists
- We need to have an estimate of how much coulombs used for PREX-I data and an estimate for PREX-II to determine effectively how much more beam time we will use.
- Have a optic calibration run plan (discussed in 01/16/2014 meeting)
- It would be nice to have real-time viewer for optics studies in commissioning (disussed in 01/16/2014 meeting)
