Agenda
- Updates from Rakitha : Site Boundary Neutron (and other) Radiation : Initial Results elog-2954
- Updates from Nickie : G4MC, x versus p, y versus theta elog-2955
Present:
Rakitha, Nickie, Tyler, Bob, Guido, Kent, Dustin, Paul, Seamus
Minutes
- Discussion on site boundary neutron radiation elog 2954
- The main improvement for the neutron is coming from the collimator itself. Since we made the collimator transversely big, it blocks EM (High Z) and slows down neutrons.
- Collimator is the main source as well as good moderator/blocker
- The asymmetry in forward back comes due to more high Z materials in forward direction compared the backward in our simulation
- We can estimate what is going to top by rotating the either side -> top/bottom is same as sides by symmetry?
- Update Pavel with this results and discuss about further simulation that he wants to do
- Coordinate with Alan and Pavel to get the correct geometry ported to Radconn simulation
- Discuss about the activation of collimator and scattering chamber area.
- Al vs stainless steel for the scattering chamber attachment -> Lorenzo did simulation work looking at this.
- On side note : Geant4 seems to overestimate the neutrons at high energies (E> 10 MeV) compared to Fluka and MCNPX
- Discussion on PREX/CREX optics elog 2955
- Nickie is doing G4MC calibration/benchmark simulation tests
- Next step is to have realistic septum field for this simulation -> scaled up AMC field?
- Discussing outstanding issues
- Check old discussions for engineering issues related to scattering chamber and attachment
- Collaboration meeting possibly on 3rd week on November and plan for the readiness review on December
- Dustin currently planning to put a natural calcium target in the beam
- Spectrometer Q1 new collimation design currently Bob is working with Pavlo on this
Misc.
- Beam parasitic studies needs a to-do list
TO DO Lists
- We need to have an estimate of how much coulombs used for PREX-I data and an estimate for PREX-II to determine effectively how much more beam time we will use.
- Have a optic calibration run plan (discussed in 01/16/2014 meeting)
- It would be nice to have real-time viewer for optics studies in commissioning (disussed in 01/16/2014 meeting)
