Agenda

  1. Dump Shielding Summary: Ciprian slides
    1. half-target
    • KP: the number of coulombs for the half target should be doubled, but it looks like there should be some advantage to doing this
    • KP: run full target 4 in donut CG: will do
    • KK: object to change the target, because it’s not trivial for the machine to give us 150uA. we need to have the prex 1 configuration
    • KP: half donut without the donut change and 3/4 target
    1. H2O shield
    • DG: having a large volume watertight and assembling it in place.
    • SR: we should consider ionization and eating up of walls; creation of free radicals (chemical problems)
    • DG: i will ask Keith Welch
    1. fat pipe with prex2 end:
    • CG: this resolves both PREX2 and CREX dump radiation problems
  2. FLUKA simulations: Victoria
    • VO: updated geometry
    • VO: running simulations to benchmark the power deposition to G4
    • KP: ultimately we want to look at the radiation coming off activated materials that we can input into other simulations
  3. Progress at JLab haplog3444
    • KP: colimator build according to the design document
    • KP: the jacket is not pure tungsten but some alloy (KD17)
    • KP: the hall has already ordered hard line water connectors for the Q1s
